I’m often asked how best to care for jewellery and so I thought I’d write a little post on this.
First of all, silver jewellery will tarnish. This is completely normal but can be slowed down by following the advice below. I’ll also cover how to clean up tarnished silver.
- Remove your jewellery before bed or before doing physical activities – especially swimming as both chlorine and salt water make the surface matt and dull.
- Put your jewellery on after showering and using any lotions or perfumes as these can accelerate tarnishing.
- Store your jewellery in a dry place. Preferably in a jewellery box.
If your silver jewellery does tarnish it can be cleaned up with a silver polishing cloth.
If the surface of the jewellery is heavily patterned, you may find it easier to use a silver dip such as Town Talk or Goddards silver dip. Please do follow the instructions on the dip carefully and polish up with a silver cleaning cloth afterwards. (This method is suitable for all silver Jenny Grace Jewellery without pearls or stones but may not be suitable for other silver jewellery so please check before use.)
