It’s October, and there is no pleasant way to say it – summer is over. But here in Scotland, autumn comes with plenty of benefits. The landscapes are bright with autumnal colours, the skies have a wonderful purple and orange glow and wildlife watching becomes a national sport.
While we often complain that we want a hotter summer with more sunny days and grumble over another wet winter with no real snow, it is autumn that displays the beauty of this unique place to its fullest.
Here at Jenny Grace we are glad that now is the time for comfy jumpers (yay long sleeves) -and hats (who needs nice hair now) to keep us warm in the crisp autumn air.
Staying in is the new going out, sweetened by hot chocolate laden with cream and cosy evenings with good friends. And if we overdo the comfort food, there is the opportunity to walk it off on a leisurely stroll through beautiful autumn woods.
Not glamorous you say? Don’t be fooled – autumn is the season of accessories! Add a bit of autumnal sparkle – such as our new black druzy and sterling silver earrings – and your relaxed outfit suddenly radiates elegance.
It is the season that offers us so much inspiration for designing truly Scottish pieces and so you’ll find the workshop a hive of activity – as long as no one runs out of the spiced latte that is … We can’t wait to share our newest creations soon.
Happy autumn days all!
We are now in the middle of a Scottish Summer. Whilst we are never sure how long those summer rays will last (and at the moment they seem to be interspersed with lots of rain!) we celebrate the first rays of real summer sunshine. And with those first rays of sun we toss our jackets aside (admittedly sometimes we have to put them back on within an hour) and delight in short sleeves and lighter fabric.
Here at Jenny Grace we call it bangle weather – nothing celebrates summer time better than the delicate jangle of some beautifully stacked bangles. Not only is the eye drawn to our slender wrists (and let’s face it, it is always joyful to show off a summer-ready body part that requires no workout whatsoever), but bangles are also a great tool to embrace the latest trend of layering different material – why not try a rose gold bangle layered with silver, Or a couple of silver bangles with a gold accent, such as our ever popular personalised gold rings bangle. Or just wear a bold piece of silver that is sure to make a statement. No matter how you decide to style your spring wardrobe, we wish you many days of sunny bangle weather!
We Scots, arguably, get very excited at the sight of those first rays of spring sun. With Christmas and the festive season only a distant memory, the long and dreary Scottish winter has truly lost its charm come April. It would be foolish though to assume that spring in Scotland equals warm weather and so we find ourselves in a style conundrum – to jumper or not to jumper?
Luckily, at Jenny Grace we know how to give our woollen treasures a spring make over if needed; we add accessories! The intricate spring time pendant on a 30’’ chain looks gorgeous over any jumper and comes in silver or on-trend rose gold. Why not pair it with matching bumblebee stud earrings, also available in both silver and rose gold.
Our delicate frangipani flower studs are sure to add a floral note to your – probably and unfortunately still long-sleeved – spring time ensemble.
We wish you a wonderful spring time and hope that the question of wearing a jumper will soon be an unnecessary one!
As I’ve had a few enquiries as to when the last date for ordering with delivery in time for Christmas is, I thought I should give a little information here.
Orders placed by Sunday 20th December will be sent via royal mail first class signed for on Monday 21st December and the expectation would be that they would arrive by Wednesday the 23rd December.
After this date, please get in touch before placing your order and I will try to help if I can.
I’m often asked how best to care for jewellery and so I thought I’d write a little post on this.
First of all, silver jewellery will tarnish. This is completely normal but can be slowed down by following the advice below. I’ll also cover how to clean up tarnished silver.
- Remove your jewellery before bed or before doing physical activities – especially swimming as both chlorine and salt water make the surface matt and dull.
- Put your jewellery on after showering and using any lotions or perfumes as these can accelerate tarnishing.
- Store your jewellery in a dry place. Preferably in a jewellery box.
If your silver jewellery does tarnish it can be cleaned up with a silver polishing cloth.
If the surface of the jewellery is heavily patterned, you may find it easier to use a silver dip such as Town Talk or Goddards silver dip. Please do follow the instructions on the dip carefully and polish up with a silver cleaning cloth afterwards. (This method is suitable for all silver Jenny Grace Jewellery without pearls or stones but may not be suitable for other silver jewellery so please check before use.)
Last of all, If you have Jenny Grace Jewellery and would like it to be cleaned up or polished up then you will find the option for this here: Jewellery service/polish
